I LOVE THIS

UNIDENTIFIED SCHOOL, UNIDENTIFIED COURT SCENE
Looking for an opening bid of $150, Closes Tuesday
The last batch of Ron Brownson’s estate sale is online now at Cordy’s and I am having a hard time not just sitting and staring at this amazing, small Kushana-Bush-esque Persian court scene which is just under A5 size and, according to Google image search, was likely accompanied in the 17th century by a poetry manuscript. Would be nice reframed.

INDONESIAN BONE MALE FIGURE
Current bid $55, Closes Tuesday
Another from the Ron Brownson sale. Look how tightly this little guy is holding onto this box. Adorable. Would be a perfect present for an anxious acquaintance and comes with an excellent wee stand.

UNIDENTIFIED ARTIST 'HARD-SOFT MISHIMA' (YUKIO MISHIMA)
Current bid $100, Closes Tuesday
Last of Ron’s things for now. They have this unattributed but it looks to be a work of 70s Japanese illustrator and magazine publisher Go Mishima. Perhaps there is some doubt around the authorship of this serene, melancholic and very gay ‘70s portrait of a young Yakuza member with fantastically rendered leg hair.

AN ART DECO SIDE TABLE
Looking for an opening bid of $100, Closes Tuesday
If your idea of a perfect night at home is a drink, a snack, a magazine and a durry I can think of no better piece of furniture for you.

LUSH

A PAIR OF GREEN VELVET CHAIRS
Looking for an opening bid of $120, Closes Tuesday
These green velvet and gold metal chairs are the lushest pieces of furniture for sale this week.

A CROSLEY SUITCASE TURNTABLE WITH FOUR ASSORTED RECORDS
Looking for an opening bid of $100, Closes Tuesday
The worst thing you could bring to any social event. Records are Elton John, Dire Straits, David Bowie and Abba.

COOOOOOOL

A KMM 10” COFFEE GRINDER (BRAUN, 1972)
Looking for an opening bid of $80, Closes Tuesday
This is a great looking piece of 1970s design, doing the classic Braun highwire act of looking cheap and expensive at the same time. It’s nice and compact, just a little shorter than a school ruler, canary yellow, and, assuming it’s still working properly, it’d be a visual asset to any kitchen.

A BOXED PAIR OF NORMANN COPENHAGEN LIQUEUR GLASSES
Looking for an opening bid of $50, Closes Tuesday
I have seen this sort of round bottomed, stemless liqueur glass only a couple of times in the wild and they always fully kidnap my attention as I wait for the massive spill that seems only moments away yet seems to never arrive.

DANE MITCHELL, GALLERY MANTRA
Estimated price $750-$1,500, Auction 24 November
Your mileage may vary on conceptual art – and I do not recommend you ever turn this thing on in your house – but Dane Mitchell is one of the best to ever do it in this country and this is going to be a bargain for someone.

CONSERVATOR’S NIGHTMARE

NICK AUSTIN, TRAVELLING ENVELOPE NUMBER 3
Estimated price $2,500-$4,000, Auction 27 November
I’ve always loved this series of paintings of a hitchhiking envelope by Nick Austin and A+O has two of them for sale this month. Being relatively new, painted onto newspaper (which rightly freaks conservatorially-minded people out) and coming to a market that’s in a bit of a slump, it’s likely that at least one of them will pass in on the night. If you want one, I guess wait to see if they sell at auction and show up with an offer later if not – if you could get them to accept around $1,800 you’d be pretty happy about it in the years to come.

1971 HONDA GL 1300 COUPE 7
Estimated price $40,000-$50,000, Auction 7 December
A beauty.
